Organ donation, managed through government-regulated transplant networks, involves donating individual organs (such as the heart, lungs, or kidneys) to save or improve the lives of living recipients.

US Tissue does not facilitate organ donation programs.

Sometimes, yes. However, organ donation for transplant takes priority. If transplantable organs are recovered, the remaining tissue may not be suitable for whole-body donation. Our team can help families understand both options.

No. There is no cost to donors or their families.

US Tissue covers all expenses associated with whole-body donation—including transportation, preparation, and placement—at no charge. We are deeply grateful for every donor and family who makes this meaningful choice to advance medical science.

Most individuals can donate, including those with common health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or arthritis.

However, certain factors may prevent acceptance, including:

• HIV/AIDS or active Hepatitis B or C infection
  

• Extremely high or low body mass index (BMI)
  

• Legal or consent restrictions
  

• Inability to match with an appropriate research or educational program
